Written by on November 26, 2018

Singer, Iryn Namubiru, has confirmed that she is safe and sound following last night’s boat cruise tragedy on Lake Victoria.  Namubiru was on the boat when it capsized but she is among the 26 people that were rescued by the police. At least 90 people are now feared to have died and Lt Col Deo Akiiki, the deputy spokesperson of the UPDF, said they did not expect to find any more survivors.  In a tweet an hour ago, Namubiru wrote: “I would like to thank all of you who have reached out to me. By GOD’S GRACE I am still Alive, safe and getting medical attention but so traumatised. My deepest thoughts to our comrades who didn’t make it and condolences to the bereaved families. What can I say? ”  Other prominent survivors were Prince David Wasajja and businessman, Freeman Kiyimba. Some of the survivors have said red flags were raised before the boat embarked on the fateful journey. For instance, some people queried the issue of life jackets and the fact that the boat appeared to be in poor mechanical condition.
