Security guard goes on shooting spree, kills one, injures two in city centre

A security guard on a building in the city centre on Wednesday evening went on rampage shooting three people, killing one and injuring two others.  According to eye witnesses, the incident that happened at around 7:30PM when a guard belonging to Swatt Security Company started shooting at by-passers near Pioneer Building along Ben Kiwanuka street in the city  centre.  “I just survived death when a rowdy security guard started shooting at us as we walked past him. I was right infront of him and a woman who was walking beside me was killed,” said Prossy Kyeswa, one of the eyewitnesses.It is said that the security guard was angered after getting involved in an argument with some of the people who were walking near the building he was guarding prompting him to shoot at them.
There was a scuffle as police tried to disarm the security guard who was on a shooting spree.  Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident identifying the deceased Brenda Bukoye, 36, a resident of Nsambya whereas one of the injured victim was identified as Anita Nanyonjo, a student at Kampala University and is admitted at Mulago hospital in critical condition.
