WhatsApp could finally let you reject group invitations

Written by on February 15, 2019

Juggling group chats can be an annoying endeavor, especially when people frivolously add you to mundane groups. Fortunately, WhatsApp seems to be working on a solution to this problem.
WhatsApp news website WABetaInfo has uncovered hints of a group invitation system in the iOS version of the app. But the website adds that the feature is coming to Android as well — so what does it do?
The outlet says if you choose the third option, then you’ll receive an alert when administrators try to add you to a group. The alert will ask you to accept or reject the invite, which is apparently valid for 72 hours. You’ll also receive an alert if you choose the second option and the inviting adminstrator isn’t in your contacts list. It’s believed that you can still join groups via a group link though, even if you choose the third option (nobody being able to add you).
This isn’t the only feature the company has been testing recently, as it’s also working on fingerprint authentication for Android phones. The functionality will apparently require a fingerprint scan when you open the app from the app drawer or notification shade. But you can actually get this same functionality by enabling fingerprint app lock functionality on your smartphone.
