DW TO HOST AFRICAN STORYTELLING DISCUSSION

Deutsche Welle (DW) together with African Media experts from Zambia, Uganda and Kenya will be having a panel discussion centered on bringing back Storytelling to the news. This will take place on  Monday 29th March and it will be virtual event streaming on various online platforms.

 

Below are the profiles of the panelists from the different countries

Moderator

Tamima Ibrahim – Head of Content – Switch TV. Tamima Ibrahim: Currently Head of Content at Switch TV, Kenya’s Fastest growing TV channel. She is a forward-thinking media manager with extensive experience in the acquisition, production and positioning of all genres of content in a rapidly evolving, globally-oriented multi-platform media landscape. With a demonstrated history of working successfully on rebranding and launching tv channels in Kenya she is recognized in the industry as an innovator. She is also the host of Kenya’s most talked about live audience talk show: Real Talk with Tamima, that focuses on social issues that affect youth offering hope, information and inspiration to help them improve their lives.

 

Panelist

Max Hofmann Prior to taking over as Head of News at DW, Max Hofmann was Head of the Studio Brussels, reporting from the frontlines of European politics. He previously worked as a correspondent in DW’s studio in Washington DC, covering North America. He also hosted TV shows like DW’s Journal and Clipmania and he won the RIAS media prize for his work on the project “Walled In!” His first real broadcast experience was in radio, working for multiple stations in Germany. He developed a keen sense for international issues at an early age, growing up in a dual-national household in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, and attending university in Berlin and Paris.

Panelist

Costa Mwansa is proprietor and Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Television in Zambia. A qualified media practitioner with over 16 years experience, COSTA has risen through the ranks from reporting duties to administrative positions. He has a vast understanding of both local and international issues ranging from politics, economics, international law, governance and human rights. Costa holds a bachelor of laws (LLB) degree from Zambia Open University. He has great skill and passion for national debates on issues of public interest and has moderated high level discussions such as the presidential debates (2011, 2015,2016). Mayoral debates, budget discussion for ZICA,EAZ and KPMG. Costa hosts his own personalized show on television which features news makers and opinion leader.

 

Panelist

Joseph Kigozi He is a marketing practitioner, sports broadcaster and strategic leader with over ten years expertise developing and building brands, and executing all aspects of public outreach campaigns to increase media exposure. He has demonstrated strength in producing effective advertising, print and promotional material, and is adept in developing high performance and dedicated teams to meet challenging corporate objectives. He has a deep understanding of Uganda’s Television Industry and an accomplished track record of working with leading TV Stations. He has served as board chairman for Reach Hand Uganda and Director Next Media.
