Promoter accuses Winnie Nwagi of taking payment and skipping show

Written by on August 27, 2019

Winnie ‘Nwagi’ Nakanwagi and her manager under Swangz Avenue are wanted by police after a show promoter filed a case against them for taking money from him and failing to perform.  A promoter identified as Ssendagire reveals that Nwagi had been booked to perform alongside Da Agent and Da New Eagles singers at a show in Kyotera on 24th August 2019.  All the other artistes turned up and performed on the agreed date, very much to the pleasure of the revelers. Their remaining balance was also paid upon performing. One singer however did not show face at the event.  The promoter claims that when he visited the Swangz Avenue offices in Industrial Area, Nwagi’s manager asked for Shs 3.8M. He paid Shs 1.9M upfront as booking fee and remained with Shs 1.9M as balance pending payment upon performance.  It got to 3am and Winnie Nwagi was nowhere to be seen. She did not perform. The revelers vandalized the P.A machines, broke and stole the chairs at the venue.

Ssendagire produced the agreement on which he signed with Gonzaga who represents Winnie Nwagi. He claims that even up to today, neither Nwagi nor her manager have reached out to him about the issue.  Consequently, the promoter went to police and opened a case file in which he wants the songstress and her manager to be arrested because they ‘stole’ his money.
