Chris Hemsworth working with Netflix for another movie after a hugely successful first collaboration. Extraction became Netflix’s most-watched original movie ever, attracting 90 million viewers in the first month it was available. The fact that the movie dropped when the Coronavirus restrictions were at their tightest with the majority of subscribers stuck at home, helped the movie’s performance even better.
Chris Hemsworth now returns to Netflix having agreed to do a new sci-fi film to be directed by Joseph Kosinski. The movie titled, Spiderhead is based on a short story set in the future, where convicted criminals can volunteer as test subjects in exchange for a shortened sentence. The plot follows two prisoners forced to wrestle with their own pasts on a drug-induced trip overseen by the head of the treatment program.
Birds of Prey‘s Jurnee Smollett will play the female lead while Deadpool, Zombieland, and 6 Underground scriptwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are in charge of scripting the movie.
